• Texas Holdem Poker Rules

With millions of people around the world who already know how to play Texas Holdem on Full Tilt Poker there is still a lot more people who still don’t know how to play this amazing card game. I promise that by the end of this guide you will be able to play Texas Holdem with your friends, online and at the casino whenever you want. Texas Holdem is actually a really easy card game to learn how to play. There is a fifty-two card deck used with no jokers or wild cards and there is usually a dedicated dealer for the game. Every game uses a dealer button which is generally a small disc to show who the dealer is that hand and it rotates every hand one spot to the left.

Before you even start playing online at Full Tilt, make sure you are using the best possible Full Tilt Poker Referral Code that is available. Typically this will give you a $600 bonus on your first deposit.

    Preflop

Before the hand begins the two players to the left of the dealer need to place in the small blind and big blind which are forced bets. Once the blinds are in the pot the dealer will deal out two cards to every player. You’ll have the option now to call, raise or fold your hand and if the hand is raised after you call you’ll need to call, re-raise or fold.

    Flop

Once everyone on the PokerStars table has finished the first round of betting the dealer will put the three community cards out on the board which every player get to use. There is another round of betting right now where you need to decide what you want to do when it’s your turn.

    Turn

After the round of betting the dealer will put the fourth community card out on the board and it’s known as the turn card. This is often the make or break card for most people. Once the card is on the board there is another betting round.

    River

Once the Poker Stars players finish betting after the turn card the dealer puts out the final community card known as the river card. There is a final round of betting after the river card and then any players left in the pot will show there hand.

The goal in Texas Holdem is to use the five community cards and your two hole cards to make the best poker hand with five cards. If you don’t know the rankings of poker hands yet then make sure you check out our article on hand rankings.

Texas Holdem can be played in limit, no limit and fixed limit and there is a big difference between them. In pot limit the betting structure is set-up where the maximum bet is the size of the pot. In fixed limit there are fixed limits which are in place for betting and you can’t exceed them. In no limit poker you can bet any amount of chips you have at any point in the hand. Most poker players prefer no limit because then you can put pressure on opponents and you don’t need to worry so much about low percentage draws being in the pot down to the river. When you’re just beginning I suggest playing fixed limit though until you get use to playing the game.
